This refreshing strawberry limeade is a fun way to enjoy summer produce and beat the heat!

This easy, from-scratch beverage recipe is perfectly sweet and tart with a bold and craveable flavor!
Tips and Serving Suggestions
If you are making this ahead of time, just use water (or only add the water, then add the club soda right before serving). That way you don’t lose the carbonation.
To ensure your strawberry limeade doesn’t get too watered down, consider using frozen strawberries in place of ice cubes.
Use a bigger pitcher than you think you’ll need. The carbonation from the club soda plus the foam from the strawberry lime juice puree can foam up quite a bit if you’re not careful.
Pin it for later!

Ingredients (and Substitutions)
You can certainly use frozen strawberries in place of fresh ones. Allow them to thaw first, as many blenders can’t handle fully frozen ingredients.
Fresh lime juice does taste better, but don’t let that stop you from making this recipe! Of course bottled lime juice from the store saves time and is still very tasty.
I use a combination of club soda and water, but feel free to use all one or the other, or a lemon-lime soda or diet soda if you prefer.
Sugar/syrup/adjusting your sweetness – While you can technically throw the sugar in the blender with the lime juice and strawberries, I mixed it with one cup of water to make a simple syrup first, just to make sure it all dissolved.
Then, add less syrup than you think you will need and taste as you go. If you have very ripe fruit, you won’t need much, and if not, you might want quite a bit.

Variations on this recipe
Of course, feel free to spice it up with additional ingredients: mint, jalapeño, basil, etc.
And if life has given you lemons, make strawberry lemonade instead! Same instructions, just with lemons in place of limes.
This recipe can also be adapted to make cherry limeade if you have cherries on hand.
Strawberry limeade with Sprite/Sonic copycat
If you like Sonic’s strawberry limeade, you’ll love using Sprite in this recipe in place of the sparkling water! Just go easy on the simply syrup – start with 1/4 cup and taste as you go. No need to wait in the drive through line!
To make it taste more like a Sonic strawberry limeade, you might also want to go light on the lime and heavy on the strawberries.
See the “if you want less pulp” section below for how to make a strawberry simple syrup that will make this extremely similar to Sonic’s version.

Strawberry limeade smoothie
Use this recipe as a sweetener, and mix it with some banana, Greek yogurt, milk of your choice, and anything else you’d like in your smoothie!
Strawberry limeade margarita
If you partake in adult beverages, you can easily use this recipe as the base for a strawberry limeade margarita by simply adding a shot of tequila per serving.
If you want less pulp
You can make a strawberry simple syrup rather than pureeing the strawberries.
- Add the sliced strawberries to one cup of water in a saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 20 minutes or so.
- Strain out the strawberry solids and stir in the cup of sugar until fully dissolved, then remove from heat and allow to cool.
- Store in a glass jar with a lid in the fridge. Use within the month (if it lasts that long)!
To make strawberry limeade with strawberry simple syrup:
Once you have your strawberry syrup, just pour 1/4 cup over ice and mix with club soda, water, or Sprite, squeeze in some fresh lime juice, and enjoy!

Blending the strawberries
If you don’t have a blender handy, you can use a food processor instead.
This may not get the puree quite as smooth, so you may wish to use a fine strainer or cheesecloth to hold back some of the larger pieces and seeds.
This article explains how to easily get most of the seeds out if you wish.
Hulling the strawberries
I just removed a small cone of the white flesh under the stem of each strawberry with a small paring knife.
If you remove more of the berry, note that you may need less sweetener as you have only left the sweet red strawberry flesh.

Strawberry Limeade Ingredients
Before you begin, you will need:
EDIBLE INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups of sliced fresh strawberries (if you buy 1 lb you will have a few extra for garnishes)
- 1 cup of fresh lime juice (about 5 large limes, so you may want to buy 6 to include garnishes)
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 cups water
- 3-4 cups club soda, depending on how sweet you want your limeade (3 left it pretty syrupy, which is fine if you plan on using lots of ice. 4 was very refreshing, but might get too watered down if you use much ice)
- Ice (optional)
- Extra lime wedges and strawberry slices to garnish

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
- Citrus squeezer cup
- Large pitcher – one gallon or so
- Blender
- Measuring cups
- Knife and cutting board

How to Make Strawberry Limeade
- First, wash the strawberries and remove the stems and leaves. Slice into quarters or eighths, depending on how big they are.
- Then, juice the limes. You can simply cut them in half and use a citrus squeezer (see above).
- After that, make a simple syrup with one cup of water and one cup of sugar. You can warm the water in the microwave for a minute or so until the sugar fully dissolves, or you can make it the traditional way on the stovetop if you have plenty of ice or make it ahead of time.
- Add the sliced strawberries and the lime juice to a blender, then blitz until smooth.
- In a large pitcher, add the strawberry lime juice puree, two cups of water, and three cups of club soda. Mix in half of the simple syrup to start, then taste as you go to see how much of the rest you want. If desired, add another cup of club soda.
- Serve over ice, and garnish with sliced strawberries and lime wedges. Store leftovers in the fridge covered. Sip and enjoy!
